Co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, Moving Beyond Inclusion is a new partnership programme bringing together six inclusive dance companies and presenters from across Europe:
- Candoco Dance Company (UK)
- Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance / HIPP (Croatia)
- Oriente Occidente (Italy)
- Producentbyrån / Danskompaniet Spinn (Sweden)
- tanzfähig (Germany)
- BewegGrund (Switzerland)
All partners work in the mainstream dance world and are also widely recognised for the importance and quality of their inclusive practice.
At the heart of the project is the fundamental belief that working inclusively produces more exciting, more excellent artistic work for audiences to enjoy. Yet the mainstream arts sector is far from truly representing the diversity in society at large. Opportunities for disabled artists to develop and present their work and for diverse artists to work together remain limited.
With the aim of firmly addressing these issues, Moving Beyond Inclusion provides a groundbreaking continuum from professional training to performance to audiences. The project partners believe that positive change can be sustained through the showcasing the best of inclusive practice and opening up discussion around the subject.
From July 2016 to June 2018 the partners are collaborating on a two-year programme of creative and professional exchanges, choreographic research, symposia, performances and skills development for people working in dance.
